Kids and Carts in Kroger

Do you remember the small post I put earlier about having a list to go shopping with?

Well, sometimes when moms forget those lists and take little hungry toddlers in the store with them it becomes a funny story and reinforces the whole point of "Make a list, take it with you, and eat before you go to the grocery store".

My 3 year old is pushing a little tiny shopping cart of his own and all three of us are hungry. I left the list in the van and tried to shop for what we needed by memory. That didn't work to well. Not only did we get things that were not on our shoping list, but my 3 year old got new strawberry toothpaste and a new toothbrush, that when we got home he brushed his teeth about 4 times. :) That's a good thing though.

Plus, a grocery shoping trip that what would have taken us around 30-45 minutes ended up being almost 2 hours.

Even though memories were made and my three year old's teeth are really shiny, stick to the list and eat before you shop.

Set a Day and a Budget

Here is something that has helped our family out with shopping at the Grocery Store.

1. Saturday, set down and plan out the upcoming weeks meals.
2. Base the meals on what you can afford for the weak including leftovers for lunch the next day.
3. Some like to go shopping after they have ate their Sunday dinner out. Some like to go right after they have attended Church.

However you like to go shopping, just don't do it on an empty stomach. It will blow your budget!

Let me know how you like to shop for groceries.

What are we doing here?

A lot of us face the same old issues when we go to the grocery store each and every time. For example,

1. Do I take the kids or ask someone to watch them that I trust?
2. Do I take the kids and deal with all of the other issues that come along with them...... such as no we can not get the donuts at the end of every isle.
3. Do I take the kids and husband and listen to "Hurry up lets get what's on the list and get out of here!"

That's where I will leave it for now. Let's start the dialogue there and keep on rolling. This is going to be a good one and healthy to say the least. :)
